This place is a must. I went about a year back to tabacon hot springs(great place), but baldi is about the same thing but less expensive. The water is awesome, younger crowd, and lots of hot springs to chose from. I had a great experience and would choose this again. Baldi has a great view of the Arenal Volcano.

One of the most relaxing places I have ever been. The hot springs felt so good and peaceful. My body was energized and relaxed. I highly recommend getting a massage outside - ask for Michael. There were a lot of tourists but if you take your time and just go from pool to pool and walk around, everything else just goes away. Oh, and make sure you chill out in the hammocks - adds to the relaxation factor.

Also, we booked through a tour company so a buffet dinner was included. Their menu did look good.

My wife and I had a great time with our 6 year-old daughter. We stayed for about 5 hours, had great ceviche and drinks. Baldi has a range of pools to explore, from very small and intimate to very large with swim up bars and party music. There is a range of temperatures, and the water seemed very clean.

With a hotel voucher the rate was $20 each or $25 at the door. Compared to Tabacon at $55 -- there is no comparison -- go to Baldi. They do need to improve the towel process ($10 deposit?!) and make it easier to buy food and drinks when you don't want to carry a wallet in your swimsuit. Speaking of swimsuits, I suggest designating certain pools clothing optional...

Visited Baldi Hot Springs in Feb. 2006 upon the recommendation of a taxi driver/guide. A quiet, relaxing Garden of Eden facility with views of the volcano. But be warned that some of the pools are very, very hot. However, there are cold pools adjacent to most of the hot pools. The pool by the bar a delightful temperature and fun to be by the bar and main area of the facility.

No travelers checks are taken here so have cash or a credit card. They do not push spa treatments but do show them to you from a catalog with descriptions. Had a very relaxing hot rock massage.

Very few people here until about 4:00. Surprised about that, although some might be staying for dinner and evening views of volcano.

A very enjoyable, relaxing day.

There are two popular hot springs near La Fortuna, one is Baldi Hot Springs and the other is Tabacon Hot Springs. The springs are about 5 miles apart. I found Tabacon to be quite a bit more expensive than Baldi, much more crowded, with lots and lots of kids (even at night). I spent at least 10 minutes trying to get the bartenders attention for a drink. The reason there are so many more kids is that Tabacon is part of a very large hotel and Baldi is not. Baldi hot springs wasn't crowded at all, had 2 bars (where I got served immediatly), there were no kids there, and it had beautiful hot springs and waterfalls. I would choose Baldi over Tabacon in a heartbeat.

There are lockers available to store your personal belongings for a fee of $5 non refundable. There are a number of pools to cater for people of all ages from kids to adults.

We found although it was busy, you could always find a nice spot to relax. During our one day visit we had experienced temperatures from the warm to the blistering hot.

The quieter pools were located further up towards the back area (keep walking past the slide), each pool had a tiled floor, which made it very comfortable for the feet unlike Tabacon where most of the pools are stoned and full of pebbles!!!

The swim up bars don't accept credit card and unlike Tabacon a water proof carrier is not provided. Prepare accordingly! Also its a good idea to take towels from your own hotel to use whilst at the springs.

All in all it was the best way to spend Christmas with my husband and I would strongly recommend it to everyone.

I'm Costarican and I hadn't visited Arenal since 2000, so I was very impressed for the changes in the area. One of the nicest surprises was Baldi Hot Springs: The place is huge, they have around 25 pools, beautiful gardens and different environments.

Note: I read some reviews about how crowded was the place. In my case we visited the place during off season so we didn't have that problem.

I returned from Costa Rica two days ago and while there visited Baldi. If you explore the grounds you will find quite a few secluded and quiet pools. We did not hear any loud music, and we found relaxing in the hot springs while looking at the volcano to be a relaxing and enjoyable end to a tough day trekking around Arenal. The lockers were enough to fit my backpack, shoes, and clean clothes but I do agree with the person who suggested tevas or some sandal that stays on your shoes because some of the rocks are slippery.

10- "The most relaxing experience!"

This is the most relaxing thing you'll ever experience! Your body just falls asleep. The beautiful hot springs in La Fortuna are the perfect way to end a busy day of ziplining. I had the most lovely evening just chilling with my travelling buddies in the many different luxurious pools of varying temperatures, heated by the local Volcano! A definite must if travelling through Costa Rica.
